Root Canal Treatment - Costs, Causes and Treatment in Gaur City 2 Noida Extension

The present day root canal treatment is nothing like those old sayings! It’s a routine dental procedure and can usually be completed in one or two appointments depending upon the condition of your tooth. Occasionally, in complex cases, additional sittings and time may be required.

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental treatment for removing infection from the pulp of the tooth and repair or save a badly damaged tooth instead of removing it. The term root canal refers to cleaning of the canals within the root of the tooth.

Is Root Canal Treatment painful?

Decades ago, root canal treatments were often painful. With dental advances and local anaesthetics’, most people have little or no pain during a root canal and proper care is taken can last a lifetime. After the treatment, some tenderness is normal. It is temporary, and if needed, the dentist may prescribe medicine to treat or prevent infection.

Specialized professional doctors (referred as Endodontists) who undergo an additional training of 3 years in treating root canals are better equipped to handle difficult cases and make the procedure faster and more predictable and comfortable for the patient.

At Dr. Kanesha’s Dental Studio in Gaur City 2 Noida Extension, you have a multi-disciplinary team of doctors who take care of your specialized treatment plan.

When do you need a root canal treatment?

Patients usually need a root canal when they notice their teeth are sensitive, particularly to hot and cold sensations. Symptoms that you might experience:

  • Severe pain while chewing or biting

  • Pimples on the gums

  • A chipped or cracked tooth

  • sensitivity to hot or cold, even after the sensation has been removed

  • Swollen or tender gums

  • Dark spots of the gums or deep decay in the teeth

  • Continuous throbbing pain or increased pain on lying down

RCT helps to stop the spread and eliminate the tooth infection.

What if you don’t get a root canal treatment done?

If the tooth is left untreated, the patient might experience swelling, pressure and/or pain. The bacteria will subsequently destroy the pulp by penetrating into the root openings thus, cause an infection in the bone. In due course of time, the tooth will become loose and may need to be removed altogether.

How much does a root canal treatment cost?

The expenditure for root canal treatment depends on how complex the problem is and which tooth is affected. Posterior teeth (teeth farther away in the mouth) are more difficult to treat and requires an experienced endodontist to carry out the procedure.  Hence, the fee is usually more. General treatment cost is from INR 2500-4500.

In comparison to the alternative of having the tooth extracted, endodontic treatment and restoration of the natural tooth are less expensive. An extracted tooth has to be replaced with an implant or bridge to restore chewing function and prevent migration of the adjacent teeth. These procedures are more expensive than the root canal treatment and post-rct restoration.

It is important to have a permanent restoration placed, such as a crown, once the root canal therapy is complete. Brush and floss twice a day. Take  regular oral check-ups every 6 months.
